Common questions about contributing to the campaign.

No. Contributions to Friends of Darrell C. Odom are political contributions, not charitable donations. They are not deductible for federal or state income tax purposes.

U.S. citizens and lawfully admitted permanent residents may contribute. Contributions from foreign nationals, federal contractors (in their official capacity), and corporations are prohibited under Maryland and federal campaign finance law. Contributions must be made from personal funds — not from the funds of another person or entity.

Maryland state law sets contribution limits for legislative races. Individuals may contribute up to $6,000 per four-year election cycle to a candidate. Political action committees have separate limits. If you have questions about your specific situation, please contact the treasurer at christine.odom@friendsofdarrellcodom.com.

Maryland law requires campaigns to disclose contributors who give $25 or more. You'll be asked for your name, address, employer, and occupation. This information is reported to the Maryland State Board of Elections and becomes part of the public record. ActBlue will prompt you for this during the online donation process.

Make checks payable to Friends of Darrell C. Odom and mail to: P.O. Box 821, Brandywine, MD 20613. Please include your name, address, employer, and occupation on a note inside the envelope or on the memo line. Checks should be personal checks — not corporate checks.

Federal law requires us to use our best efforts to collect and report the name, mailing address, occupation, and name of employer of individuals whose contributions exceed $200 in an election cycle. Maryland law has its own reporting requirements.

  • Contributions are not tax-deductible as charitable donations
  • Corporations, foreign nationals, and federal contractors may not contribute
  • Contributions must be made from personal funds
  • Contributions are subject to Maryland campaign finance limits
